Moira's Feedback

Moira was our daughter's tutor for 2 years to support her in her GCSE English. Our daughter is bilingual but struggled due to her native language and family being French. Moira gave her the techniques and helped her to acquire the relevant skills to obtain a 8 at GCSE when she was targeted a 6. 2 years later, our daughter is studying International Baccalaureate and the benefit that she got from Moira's tuition are still valuable as she is now target top English mark A* equivalent. Moira's tuition was worth every penny.

Moira has been amazing and already our daughters confidence has increased.

It is a pleasure to have Moira working with my kids- 9 and 11. The lessons are suited to each of them and Moira captures their attention. My daughter wasn't initially too excited about a tutor but Moira seems to have solved this somehow! Thank you Moira!!

My daughter received tutoring sessions prior to her GCSEs in English Lit and Lang. Moira was wonderful and managed to really improve my daughter's confidence in these subjects, as well as work on exam technique. She ultimately went from failing grades to 7’s, for which we will always be grateful to Moira.

Moira has helped Abbie immmensly and Abbie gets on very well with her. She’s a lovely person and explains everything and does her best to help Abbie understand.

Very good at explaining what the questions are looking for in terms of answers

Having decided to take a year out to independently retake my English A level, I quickly found myself overwhelmed. Moira immediately identified my strengths and weaknesses and by the end of the first lesson, formulated a plan to improve my grade in as short a time as possible. Thanks to her I achieved an A in English Lit (90%) which was a drastic improvement from 70% the year before. Moira is professional, friendly, intelligent, incisive and diligent. The best tutor I have had in all 14* years of my education!

My daughter had failed GCSE English twice and was lacking confidence in the subject. Moira quickly assessed her needs and tailored teaching accordingly. She managed to build her confidence up, meaning she passed on her third time of trying.

Moira worked hard with Sophie over a 7 month period and she has today passed her English GCSE. We moved schools at the end of year 10 and Sophie was predicted a 2/3 but Moira was able to get Sophie on track and fully prepared for her exams. We can’t recommend her highly enough, she is a fantastic teacher!

Moira's input with my daughter has been exceptional. My daughter has responded so very well to Moira's style of teaching, Moira gave her confidence in a topic in which she had none. Thanks to Moira's intervention, my daughter has passed her English GCSE opening up pathways for her and meaning she does not have to resit. Moira is not only a fabulous teacher, but a very down to earth lady who is very able to elicit a positive desire to learn from students who may not necessarily respond well in a standard classroom environment. I can't thank you enough!!

Moira builds an excellent relationship with her student ensuring that her student is fully supported. She is very knowledgeable in her subject and knows the exam very well making all work relevant. She is very specific in knowing the problems. My daughter was performing at a level 4 in class in English Language and after an hour a week for 7 months with Moira she achieved a level 7 in her English Language GCSE this year beyond all expectation. We are so pleased with Moira and will be employing her again for the next generation in the family. A 5 star tutor in every way.

I contacted Moira as I had a few concerns with my sons GCSE mock exam grades as he was coming out with Level 2 and 3. My son really enjoyed his lessons with Moira, she made him feel comfortable and explained everything to him clearly so he understood what was required to get him through his GCSE exams. I would definitely recommend Moira if you need help as she really does make a difference. My son went on and passed his literature with a grade 5 and language with a grade 6 and I'm sure without Moira's help and advice he would not have done so well.

Moira has been very helpful with my English GCSE preparation. She is very proficient and yet kind and patient while teaching . I am very grateful to her for guiding my at every stage and building my confidence . I am proud to say I have scored an A in English with Moira's guidance . Had first lesson & really pleased so far

Moira has been an excellent tutor to my daughter for the new gcse English language & lit exams. Her tutoring has given my daughter the skills and confidence in the subject. Results are out now and far exceeded expectations from when we first started with Moira c 5 months previously. I certainly strongly recommend Moira.

Moira has been tutoring my son prior to him sitting his gcse. I always found her friendly yet professional and was impressed with her dedication towards Harry's success. Sessions were tailored to his needs and she completely built his confidence with regard to English as a subject. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

Moira has been an outstanding tutor during my A level English Literatire resit, providing extensive reading materials that really enhanced my understanding of the texts I was studying. Moira also encouraged me to deepen my analysis of the texts, while also providing constructive criticism of essays I had written, which enabled me to improve the quality of my written technique. Our sessions were very helpful, relaxed and enjoyable. I would not hesitate to recommend Moira to anyone in need of a tutor!

My son is in Year 10. I contacted Moira because currently he has been attaining a D grade in English so I was looking for someone to help him boost his GCSE grade. My son really likes Moira, enjoys the lesson and comes home feeling he has learnt a lot. Believe me, that's quite a result already. Looking at the work he has produced so far I would rate Moira very highly and would not hesitate to recommend her. This is primarily because she inspires confidence in her students and gets them interested in the subject.
