This is how 2 referees rated Miho:
Patient, calm, reliable, caring, loving, thoughtful, compassionate, organised … are some of the words my friends and students have used to describe me. I was born and brought up in Japan and I have been living in England for 16 years. I am a Japanese mother and wife who loves people and teaching.
I have been teaching Japanese at home, on-line and at a local language school, and my students range from primary school children to students preparing for GCSE, anime enthusiasts to business people.
My teaching career started when I was at university in Japan, coaching my high school’s athletics team and giving some children private English tuition at home. I taught English at two private high schools in Japan for 12 years. Here in England, I have been giving private tuition of Japanese to non-Japanese people and of English to non-English-speaking people.
Different approaches for different students. I work with my students to find the best and most efficient way for them to learn Japanese or English. Some prefer an informal chat style of learning and ask a broad range of questions. Some would rather have more organised structures. Others love singing and playing games… especially young learners. What is your motivation for learning Japanese? Japanese traditional culture, pop-culture, business opportunities, Japanese food, travel, teaching English to Japanese students… ? It is a joy to plan each lesson to suit the student's needs and interests in order to develop the full potential of everyone.
