Energetic and enthusiastic, I have a keen sense of observation and I am a critical problem solver. I have a long academic experience, being a teacher as well as a researcher for more than 15 years. Besides my doctoral degree in Mathematics, I am also trained in Statistics (at the Ph.D. level). I value teaching and input from my students, and I pay close attention to their development and achievements. I love traveling and I am a fan of zoos, natural history museums, and animal societies. I use computers and technology in teaching as well, and I worked in software and IT management.
I taught high school and university levels in Romania for 5 years, especially in Computer Science and Math Foundations, as well as Logic. Then I moved to the States by starting in a Ph.D. program. During my stay in the United States, I taught college-level courses for 9 years, including special programs for talented youth or for tuition. Subjects covered were: Algebra, Number Theory, Calculus, Discrete Mathematics, Business Calculus, College Algebra. in 2010, I went back home, as a visiting professor in applied maths and statistics for one year, at a private university. I arrived in the UK for a second Ph.D. program at Durham university in 2011, where I taught Statistics, Discrete Mathematics, while getting trained as a PhD student in Statistics. I teach now at CATS College, Cambridge, GCSE, A-Level, and University Foundation level maths.
I usually prefer one-to-one interaction with students... however I welcome group studies. My tutoring is usually aided by the computer even if I am still a paper-and-pencil tutor. I pay attention to students' approaches to solving Math problems and to their strengths in building up strategies for achieving their goals.
