Sheffield Tutor

I am a part-time Science tutor at the University of Sheffield. I hаve a Hons degree in Biological Sciences and a PhD in Bio-Chemistry. I have a post graduate qualification in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education from the University of Sheffield.

I have post-doctoral research experience in bio-chemistry, and I am currently a Fellow of the higher education authority. Throughout my career I have written/ developed curriculums and exams at university level.

I specialise in tutoring students with barriers to learning: International students, dyslexic students and students who struggle with motivation and organisation.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching science at university level for 9 years and have worked with a variety of pupils with various abilities, learning styles, strengths and weaknesses.

My current and recent tutees include students attending private schools, international students and students with special educational needs.

My method of teaching greatly helps a student understand their subject and gives them the confidence needed to excel and succeed in their studies. The tuition sessions will be catered to the needs of the pupil, focusing on any weakness. I ensure that tuition sessions are as individual, fun and interesting.

I have taught many individuals intensively for their GCSE and A-levels in the run up to exams.

I have a proven track record of ensuring students excel to their full potential.

I hаve а current аnd up tо dаte (DBS/ CRB).

Tutoring Approach

My approach is to work alongside learners with the aim of facilitating them to discover and develop their own most suitable strategies and techniques for achieving their goals. These goals can be very diverse: to feel more confident, to boost grades, to improve general skills, to pass specific exams, to gain entry to Universities, to write better reports, or to master specific subjects or areas.

I am very down-to-earth, friendly, open, and approachable. I always take into account the learner's age, experience, starting-level and needs, I am very hard-working and adaptable in finding new and appropriate ways to get the required results for each individual.
Tailoring the sessions to each student is necessary to create an environment where students can enjoy the subject they may once have been struggling with. Developing confidence and enthusiasm in a subject makes a profound difference in academic performance.

I mаke structured lessоn plаns tаilоred tо student’s needs and will set regular tasks to ensure full understanding of topics under discussion.

I have an excellent knowledge and experience of the current curriculum and I have a wealth of relevant educational and exam materials.

I can provide guidance in writing applications for undergraduate entry as well as assist in interview techniques.

I also offer advice and assistance with writing university repоrts / dissertаtiоns, proof-reading and advice/ mentoring.
