Unlock Potential with Expert Science Tuition.
Hello, I’m Dr Michelle Scott — a professional online science tutor with over 20 years of teaching experience and a PhD in Biochemistry. As a 5-star rated tutor and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, I specialise in GCSE and A-level Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, helping students build confidence, master tricky concepts, and achieve top exam results.
I’ve taught at school and university level, worked as Head of Science, and supported students preparing for medical, dental, and bioscience degree applications. My lessons are clear, structured, and tailored to each student’s needs, whether they’re aiming for higher grades, university entry, or simply a stronger grasp of science.
Alongside this, I also bring specialist experience working with autistic and neurodiverse learners, including students with ADHD, dyslexia, anxiety and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA). This means I’m experienced at creating calm, supportive lessons where every student — whatever their starting point — can thrive.
My sessions are engaging, motivating, and effective, you can expect to see an almost immediate improvement in both results and confidence.
If you’d like bespoke, effective support for science, I’d love to help. I look forward to working with you.
I have over 20 years of experience teaching and leading science at university and school level, and I now specialise in one-to-one online tuition. Alongside my private tutoring, I teach science at the National Autistic School, where I support students with complex needs, including pathological demand avoidance. This role has strengthened my ability to make science accessible, engaging, and confidence-building for every learner.
My background includes roles as Head of Science and Academic Partnerships at the University of Leeds, research lead, lecturer, and curriculum developer. I continue to be involved in educational research, ensuring my teaching methods are evidence-based and effective.
I have worked with students from both private and state schools, international students, and learners with special educational needs or anxiety. Whatever the starting point, I tailor my lessons to each student’s learning style and goals, helping them gain clarity, structure, and confidence.
I make full use of interactive online tools — from whiteboards to simulations — to bring science to life and create engaging, productive lessons. My students consistently achieve excellent progress, with many securing higher grades, improved confidence, and places at their chosen universities.
As a PhD tutor with a 5-star rating, I offer personalised, online science tuition that fits seamlessly into your busy schedule, no matter where you are in the world.
My lessons are interactive and tailored to students from KS2 to undergraduate level, including those from top independent schools and international backgrounds. Whether you need long-term support, intensive courses, or holiday catch up lessons, I provide flexible scheduling to meet your needs.
Here's how I can help students excel:
- Simplifying complex concepts into easy-to-understand steps.
- Enhancing problem-solving, critical thinking, and independent study skills.
- Mastering exam techniques for GCSE, A-level, and university entrance exams.
- Preparing for medical, dental, and bioscience applications.
