I have 18 years teaching experience at various schools across Essex and Norfolk including mainstream schools, boarding, Home Educated and International students. I tutor privately on a one to one basis as well as paired and group sessions. During the holidays I run small group revision workshops focused on answering exam questions effectively. I have previously held positions as a Head of Biology, Head of House and teacher in charge of Initial Teacher Training.

Tutoring Experience

I am a senior examiner for Edexcel, leading a team of GCSE Science examiners on the Biology GCSE specification for the exam board. Outside of of my examining duties for Edexcel I also have 18 years experience marking GCSE Biology, GCSE Chemistry, GCSE Physics, Combined Science and A level Biology exams for OCR and AQA. I have experience in teaching/ tutoring across the range of specifications: GCSE/ International GCSE/ A level/ International A level including Salters and National Extension College from Edexcel, OCR, AQA and CIE. In addition to my teaching qualification, I also have 3 years industry experience as a Microbiologist Analyst, a 1.1 class BSc Hons degree in Biology and 3 A grades at A level.

Tutoring Approach

I have tutored individuals and small groups of students in my spare time throughout my career. I’m an approachable and friendly tutor who is able to provide personalised tutoring sessions to help build confidence, reinforce previous learning and suggest exam techniques to help success in exams.
