As someone who hadn't touched chemistry in a while, Michail's teaching style is visibly helpful and reassuring. His depth of knowledge is incredibly evident, and he explains everything, making sure I have understood and not left with any questions. He tailors his lessons to suit my level of experience, making complex concepts feel accessible again. I'm glad I found Michail as a tutor, as I can see the improvement myself, and feel more prepared for exams under his guidance.

I only had one lesson with the student. At the end of that, she said she was very happy with the progress she had made and she asked me to schedule another lesson for the following week.
On the day of the second lesson, just 3hrs before that was due to start, she emailed me that she wanted to cancel further lessons but this was not related to the tuition itself, she said she simply could not afford the time to travel to me.

Michalis is a superb Chemistry tutor. He is very thorough and takes careful measures in helping my daughter grasp concept that my daughter may not have understood properly in class. With just 2 sessions my daughter’s test marks went up from 60% to 90%!! Michalis is wonderful and works very hard to make sure my daughter thoroughly understands whatever the chosen topic may be. Michalis has helped build my daughter’s confidence for class tests that she has really been struggling with. What a wonderful difference I have seen in her!!

Michalis organised tuition with prompt communication. We took his recommendation for 1.5 hour upon recommendation. The lesson probably hasn’t been a great start with feedback on practical work and could’ve helped with some preparation beforehand as the recommendations were deviating from school’s feedback. The reference of quite old reference texts further didn’t instill confidence in pupil. It might not have been the best pupil-tutor match unfortunately.

I only spent one lesson with the student, mainly going through her SQA report.
I offered clear recommendations for improvement, noted by the student. I was surprised to hear later that the parent was not happy as "my feedback did not match the school's feedback… "
[a) why would the school's feedback be more reliable than mine… b) if they were happy with the school's feedback (which I was never shown), why would they not just go ahead with that… ]
Anyhow - in the remaining few minutes of the lesson, I went through some basic knowledge chemistry questions and established significant areas of concern.
Again, the parent later complained that the book which I had used (an SQA official past papers booklet… ) "did not inspire confidence, because it was an oder version"! As if basic chemistry questions have changed within the last 5 years… Furthermore the parent went on to directly suggest that "since they didn't feel they got enough out of the first lesson", I should offer them another lesson, for free!
I found that suggestion rather demeaning and, when I declined, they decided it was appropriate to leave me reduced feedback (for the first time after 10 years).
Unfortunately there are people who are plain unreasonable, at the least…

Michail tutored my son for7 months, primarily focusing on Higher Physics but also on occasion assisting with Higher Maths and Higher Chemistry. He is extremely passionate as to tutoring, encourages healthy debate with his pupils and demonstrates a clear drive to ensuring his pupils obtain the best results they can. My son excelled in his Maths exam, put a dissapointing Nat 5 Physics result behind him with a comfortable B pass at Higher level and also Chemistry crashed in 1 year. Michail proved a very effective tutor in Higher Maths guiding my daughter from a C in her pre-lim to a band 1 A in the exam later in the year.

He is knowledgeable on format of the exam papers, how to answer the questions to maximise marks, how to complete a paper in time etc

He is patient with his tutoring but to his credit pushes the student whilst keep testing & confirming the students understanding.

Michail began tutoring my son in chemistry after a disappointing prelim result at Higher level. Michail worked methodically with him in the time available to address areas of weakness and improve his basic understanding, often revisiting gaps at Nat 5 level, before working methodically through the Higher syllabus prior to his exam. He secured an A. Michail is always professional in his approach, willing to explain concepts in a variety of ways to ensure understanding and aid progress. He is particuarly good at identifying strengths and weaknesses and tutoring to meet my son's specific needs. This year my son has gone back to Michail for Advanced Higher Physics tutoring and continues to be pleased with the help and support Michail gives him. I would recomend Michail to others for both Chemistry and Physics.

Michail began tutoring our daughter around 6 months before she sat her Higher Physics exam. Our daughter had been encouraged to sit Higher Physics at the end of S4 instead of the Nat 5 level, and she was keen to get a tutor so that she could do well in the Higher. I was very impressed that Michail's priority was building a strong foundation and understanding of Physics, and not simply on 'how to pass' by looking at past papers and guessing what may come up. He worked well with our daughter, and I honestly don't think she ever had any criticism of his manner or tutoring methods. The bottom line: an 'A' in Higher Physics achieved in S4, and Michail will be tutoring her for Advanced Higher Physics this year!

Michail has been a great tutor for our son. He was able to provide 3 higher subjects which meant he could be very flexible within our weekly 2 hour sessions. He supported my son from prelims through to highers, giving him a bit more confidence in his readiness for his highers. My son got along well with him 1:1 and felt he helped him due to his in depth knowledge of physics, maths, and chemistry at higher level and the fact he appeared to really love these subject. Michail was very flexible in his times and communicated well with us as parents. We would be delighted to use Michail again if support is needed for advanced highers and would recommend his to others.
