This is how 3 referees rated Michael:
I have an undergraduate degree in Zoology from QUB and a PhD in Molecular Parasitology from the same institution. From 2006 until 2010 I worked in three different countries as a postdoctoral research scientist during which time I published a variety of papers on my work. I then worked as a post primary teacher of Key Stage 3 Science, GCSE Biology, A-Level CCEA Biology and A-Level CCEA Health and Social Care in several schools. I am currently a Molecular Biologist at Almac Diagnostics.
I have a PGCE in Biology with Science and I have experience of teaching in several secondary and grammar schools. I have taught A-Level CCEA Biology since 2011 and I have been a tutor since 2012. I am also a Biology examiner for CCEA which allows me to enhance pupil exam technique.
I am able to tutor CCEA AS and A2 Level Biology. I DO NOT tutor GCSE Biology.
I CANNOT HELP WITH AQA, OCR or EDEXCEL DUE TO A LACK OF EXPERIENCE WITH THESE BOARDS.
I am willing to tutor from my own home if needed and if I am able to do so.
I have made all my own teaching resources which include informative PowerPoints and revision sheets which summarise the most critical parts of a topic which are needed to achieve excellent marks in an exam. I make constant use of past paper questions and hone students' examination technique, ensuring that they understand the meaning of a question.
I provide extra reading in the form of learning logs which are articles scanned from science magazines to which I subscribe. These not only enhance the knowledge a person holds about a topic and increases their scientific literacy (which is useful for interviews and for preparation for university courses) but also demonstrates how a topic is being used and expanded upon in real life situations, highlighting its importance and applicability to careers.
