I am a student at King’s College London, doing a masters degree in physics and have just joined First Tutors. I have completed my first year in university and will be starting my second year in September. I have experience tutoring in maths and physics to an A-level standard as well as chemistry to GCSE level. Since it hasn’t been that long since I sat my own A-levels and GCSE’s I understand how tough and stressful they can be, and what it takes to get the grades that are needed. From this I wish to help students reach their maximum potential and encourage them to not avoid STEM subjects. I have a particular passion for physics and want to inspire younger students to see the fascination in the subject.
I have worked part time for STEM Tutors, who specialise in science and maths, since 2020. I have taught one to one in person in person and online. During sixth form I was part of the mentoring scheme at Newstead Wood and helped tutor a number of younger students. I also started a physics club during my time in Newstead Wood in which I would put on fun and educational presentations about various physics topics.
In my experience students work best when they are in a relaxed environment and feel as though they are not being judged. I try my best to create this environment while still making sure the student works hard. Its also important to enjoy these subjects and, while still keep exams in mind, be able to see the interest outside of the course.
