I decided to qualify as a teacher quite late, after bringing up a family and I have been teaching for 11yrs. Previously to this I qualified as an Accounting Technician. Teaching has been rewarding and I thoroughly enjoy giving my knowledge to students. I usually build a good report with the students I teach.
Many of my interests include creating soft furnishings, sketching and photography while walking in the countryside.
My teaching experience has been varied, as I have taught varying age groups through **Contact Detail Removed** work, which has often been long term. I have been called upon to teach English and Maths. I have a English Specialism, which has enabled me to dissect English and show many similarities to help a student remember and understand certain concepts. In my experience I have found teaching Maths very rewarding too, as a great deal of students both primary and secondary have difficulty with the basic concept, but when they realise and notice patterns within Maths they start to like the subject. In the last three years I have worked in a school where the children have had behaviour problems. I also have experience of teaching in a home environment. I am fully conversant with the use of phonics for some students who have difficulty in literacy.
Initially the pupil or student will usually say what he/she has difficulty with and sometimes my approach can be varied according to how the pupil/student understand the concept. I have found visual illustrations helpful, particularly in Maths.
