Personal Description:

Former lecturer and researcher at Exeter University in physics for over 15 years, working closely with collaborators at Cambridge and Oxford, producing over 40 publications and patents. Qualified teacher with secondary teaching experience, including invaluable experience with special educational needs and English as a second language. Expert knowledge of the subjects offered to senior research level, and of the current GCSE and A level syllabus. Experienced in assessment and exam technique. At ease teaching from GCSE to postgraduate level. Currently head of physics at a respected private college, and an educational consultant creating physics courses to teach teachers.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught general science and physics at all levels within secondary school and have an approachable manner, with the ability to communicate on the students level and put them at ease. I have experience with special educational needs, english as a second language, and working with autism.

I have 15 years experience as a tutor at A level in the private sector, and 15 years experience as a tutor at university level, providing academic and pastoral care. I have extensive experience constructing and delivering university lecture courses including undergraduate mathematics.

Tutoring Approach:

I am happy tutoring at all levels from KS3 to undergraduate, with a casual and informal approach that puts the student at ease and makes the topic accessible, but with an underlying focus that enables development to full potential.
