Hi, my name is Matilda and I’m studying Biochemistry at Imperial College London. I’m passionate about science and am eager to help students unlock that same excitement. I have experienced first-hand the transformational effect a good tutor can have on a student’s understanding and outlook and feel grateful to be able to do the same for others.

Tutoring Experience

Having first started tutoring in 2020, I have significant experience in tutoring a range of abilities and subjects with success, including Biology, Chemistry and Maths. In the past I have tutored KS3 maths and science, maths for GCSE exams and school entrance exams and university-level Biochemistry.

Tutoring Approach

I aim to place the student’s needs at the core of my tutoring approach, and always begin the process by getting to know the student’s areas of strength and weakness within the subject, as well as their aims for the tutoring sessions.

I typically base the lessons around problem questions matched to the student’s level, and believe that setting small homework tasks between lessons is a great tool to allow the student to develop confidence around a topic. Going over problem questions at the beginning of the session allows the student to strengthen their knowledge of previously covered topics and I believe it to be a great way to begin a session.

For the remainder of the session, I go over any difficulties highlighted in the problem questions, and then move onto the next topic. I use a combination of diagrams, textbooks and practice questions to explain topics in an accessible way.
