A current senior leader in a successful secondary school, teaching all three Science specialisms. Outside school I enjoy many sports, notably rock climbing and bouldering around the North-East region. Being a confident skier, my latest effort was to learn to snowboard.
Gained Qualified Teacher Status in July 2009. Previous experience included teaching in the UK and in Europe. I am currently a Deputy Headteacher in a Secondary School and teach to all key stages across a mixture of abilities. My experiences have enabled me to support students to achieve great results, some who have needed additional help due to special educational needs.
I am an enthusiastic teacher who makes the teaching and learning process inviting and exciting. I aim to engage and teach my specialism using an approach that enables pupils to relate to course content. I am an active science teacher whose expertise allow me to teach every day! My approach is to identify a students strengths and areas for improvement before helping to build their confidence as well as their understanding. This is done strategically by setting challenging goals to maximise the students rate of progression. This may lead up to an examination where I turn the focus to exam techniques.
