I am female, currently teaching at a primary school. I listen to what my pupils want and through discussion and diagnostic testing identify their academic needs. I then vary my teaching styles/approaches to meet the specific needs and learning style of the individual pupil. I have tutored many pupils/students for entrance exams and the results have been favourable. I will also ensure that also that any gaps in knowledge (due to the Covid) are addressed.
I have over thirty-five years of teaching experience spanning key stages 1, 2, and 3 but with greater emphasis in key stage 2. I have taught in the Caribbean but am currently teaching in England, hence, I am able to bridge the gaps in learning especially for those pupils who have just migrated to England. I am also qualified to teach dyslexic pupils where I plan and teach specially tailored individualised programmes of study targeting the specific needs of the child.
My approach to tutoring is simple. I first identify the pupil's needs by doing a simple diagnostic test to determine where I need to begin. This serves to eliminate any gaps in the pupil's learning. My approach will include: explaining, demonstrating, pupil demonstrating and reviewing.
