I am currently a secondary Mathematics teacher working in a school in East London. I have worked as a Mathematics Secondary School teacher for 7 years. I have also been a Head of Year at a secondary school in East London for the past 4 years. I graduated as a newly qualified teacher from the Institute of Education (IOE) in 2015 and achieved the Postgraduate Diploma in Education in 2016, from the leading university for education in the world. I also have a bachelors of Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science, the leading university in the world for social sciences. Therefore, I have a transferable skill set and can adapt to many different teaching skills from my past academic experiences.

I am extremely passionate about this job, and the rewarding aspect of seeing pupils make progress. I have had extensive experience in both face-to-face and online teaching and therefore, believe that pupils can make progress under any circumstances. My resources for Mathematics are extensive, and I believe that pupils need to enjoy the subject first before they flourish academically. I also specialise in helping pupils find their potential in mathematics, and have taught all age groups, ranging from primary school education, to a-level Mathematics. Nonetheless, working in a secondary school, I specialise in GCSE specification curriculum.

Tutoring Experience

7 years of qualified teaching experience at a secondary school. Working with year 7-11 pupils and also A-level students. Currently tutoring privately at a tuition centre for the past 4 years, specializing in GCSE problem-solving questions. I also work on key areas of Mathematics, to ensure pupils work on areas they feel less comfortable with and challenge them as much as possible, in order for them to achieve the best grades.

Tutoring Approach

Look for weaknesses and gaps in knowledge with the scheme of work. Try and pinpoint what key areas to work on, especially problem-solving. The GCSE specification for mathematics has changed rapidly over the years, with an important emphasis on problem-solving in both higher and foundation papers. I will look for key skills that pupils can apply to such questions in order to challenge the pupil.
