I am a highly experienced teacher who now specialises in private language tuition for all age groups and purposes. A graduate in French, I teach French and Italian as well as English language and English as a foreign language.
I provide preparation and revision classes for A Level, IB and university exams in French, Italian. I also provide help with preparation for English Language GCSE as well as for Cambridge ESOL exams (FCE, CAE and CPE) and other public exams. I have extensive experience of creating and teaching tailormade courses in modern foreign languages which builds on a career in the management and teaching of English as a foreign language.
After leaving university with a degree in French, I worked as an english teacher in Italy for three years . Back in the UK I have taught for many different language schools and organisations, managed a Kent Country Council European training programme and run my own language training business. I also ran group french classes in primary schools in Tunbridge Wells for several years.
For the last 15 years I have worked as a freelance language tutor specialising in providing revision and support classes in French, Italian and English for KS2/3, GCSE, IB, A and undergraduate levels. I have been an OCR and Edexcel examiner for GCSE English and SATS and have marked ESOL exams for the University of Cambridge.
I teach many young people but also specialise in teaching adults at any level from absolute beginner wishing to learn french or italian for holiday or general interest purposes.
Individual tuition is immensely helpful for young people : it enables them to fill gaps in their knowledge, clarify unclear areas and enforce what they have already learned. They also expand their general understanding of language and this has a knock on effect in other subject areas - all of which considerably increases their confidence levels. Each course is planned to meet individual levels and needs in terms of material, pace and approach and I constantly update my teaching resources and use a wide variety of materials in order to create effective, interesting learning programmes. I track the school curriculum and relevant exam board requirements but also aim to give an overview of language structure, bring new insights and underpin spoken language with a solid grammatical base.
Older students who are doing Italian ab initio for the IB or as part of a combined course at university find some intensive 1:1 tuition immensely beneficial.and adults find 1:1 tuition 100% more efficient and enjoyable than a group situation.
