Hi, my name is Lynn and I have ten years experience in tutoring biology. I specialise in A level tuition.
I am happy to tutor one off tutorial sessions or regular tutorials.
I obtained my first degree in Medical Cell Biology (first class honours) and my PhD in Immunology from The University of Liverpool. I then worked for twelve years as a postdoctoral research scientist at a number of academic and research institutions, namely The University of Liverpool, The Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, The Institute of Child Health at Great Ormond Street Hospital and The Edward Jenner Institute for Vaccine Research. I have fourteen published papers in national and international science journals. I left academic science in 2007 to bring up my family and concentrate on tutoring. I am friendly, easygoing, and infinitely patient. Above all I am truly passionate about biology and always aim to pass on my enthusiasm to those I teach.
I have attended University-run lecturing courses and during my research career I regularly tutored both undergraduate and postgraduate students. I have given university lectures and also designed and run practical modules at postgraduate level. I have been tutoring A level biology for over ten years, in particular AQA and Edexcel exam boards and more recently Eduqas.
My lessons are relaxed and friendly and I aim for tutees to feel comfortable enough to ask questions. I summarise topics in the lesson so that tutees understand thoroughly and then I use practice questions and mark schemes from the appropriate exam board which is key to good grades at AS/A level. I am happy to set and mark exam question homework.
