I have been a primary school teacher since qualifying in 2009 and I have gained a wealth of experience working with children from age 3 to age 11. I have lots of teaching experience in various schools and nurseries. I am highly committed to my job and I have found it very rewarding to have been able to provide support for many children and watch their progress grow.

In addition to tutoring, I also run a community interest company with my husband, which links children in the U.K to children in Kenya through letter writing and various projects. If you get your child tutored with me, you can also give them the gift of friendship with a child from another country.
Feel free to message me for further details.

I can also help your child during the school holidays. I can offer classes to prepare the children for the new term, which could be longer than an hour, depending on their age.

I can also help your child with phonics and can help to prepare them for the phonics screening check that is taken in year 1. My tutees who have taken this test have passed, even if they found it difficult at first. I am easily and quickly able to identify gaps and then work on these areas of development with the children in a fun and engaging way.

I currently work as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant in schools and on a one to one basis. Part of my role is delivering a phonology group, which works on all of the skills your child will need before they follow a formal phonics programme. I have had lots of experience with children with barriers to their communication and understanding and have supported many children with SEND, such as autism, ADHD, processing delays and more.

Tutoring Experience

I have had a lot of experience working with children of various ages. I have taught children with a range of complex and additional needs and have been able to provide them with the necessary support to help them achieve their goals. I have taught children with ADHD and have provided fun, interactive sessions, which have held their attention and helped them to progress well.

In 2013 I taught a year 2 class that had a diverse range of abilities. I was able to achieve high success with my class in their end of Key Stage One statutory tests (SATS) with many children achieving above their targeted grades.

I have continued to support children in my various roles and they have made good or excellent progress.

I am now dedicating my time to tutoring and speech and language intervention and wish to develop this further and help more children to achieve.

Tutoring Approach

As the Foundation Stage (ages 4-5) is play based, children learn by doing activities and playing games. This has helped me with my creative approach to teaching and it is something that I take on board whilst tutoring. My lessons are fun and interactive and focus on building your child's confidence with their work. Additionally, I create and use my own resources in my lessons, which the children respond well to and throughly enjoy.

I started my tutoring with my five year old goddaughter. She lacked confidence with phonics and Maths. I saw her twice a week and she really looked forward to our sessions together. She learned though fun activities and games, including using online resources. Her mum was particularly pleased with her excellent progress in reading. She quickly learned the first 100 high frequency words and beyond and also learned her phase 5 sounds. She then passed the phonics screening test in school. We were so proud of her hard work! Her confidence grew, as she made such excellent progress. It was lovely to see her being proud of her achievements. She continues to make good progress now. She is now doing so well in English that she no longer needs tutoring in this subject, as she has caught up to her peers. Her teachers noticed what a postive difference it made to both her ability and confidence, which was reflected in her termly school progress reports. She is now working at the expected level for her year group, which has also boosted her confidence within the classroom. She is participating in lessons more as she is now able to use her skills to tackle new challenges.

I have the experience and knowledge to create individual lessons to suit the needs of my learners. Your child will therefore receive tuition that is personal to them and addresses their gaps in their learning. I have helped many classes of children and individual tutees to make good and excellent progress and so I feel that my expertise would help your child to flourish. I use my own resources and tailor lessons to suit the interests of my learners. My five star reviews reflect the quality of my teaching. Get in touch today.
