I love to travel and explore the less trodden parts of this world. I believe it is by this that we can best understand each other and expand our comfort zones.
I hold a Masters Degree in Film Aesthetics. Before teaching the subject on a technical level, I was an award-winning filmmaker. I am fascinated by film and can talk about them until everyone has left the room, and even afterwards.
I teach film production at a university and I hold a PGCHE in Teaching and Support Learning.
I have significant experience in teaching students at university level from individuals to lectures of 50. But I also have tutored Mathematics and English privately for almost ten years, with particular success in helping students pass exams, in 11+ and GCSEs.
There is a large amount of mathematics, applied and core, that I teach to my students to assist in technical aspects of film production. Lenses and optics, sound recording and film budgeting and planning, all require a strong proficiency in mathematics.
I firmly believe that the teacher must adhere their teaching style to the learning style of the student. Some students prefer a hands-on approach, others are visual, some love analogies whilst some just want to attempt and refine a single approach.
What I absolutely love about teaching is that a different approach, no matter how subtle, is always required. And it always pays off at that 'penny drop' moment.

Would recommend Luke to anyone, try him out.
- help our son, to build his overall maths capability and review core concepts and basics through to more complex math problems
- to have a safe environment to ask all of his questions
- prepare him for the end of year exams that will determine initial class placement, when entering Secondary School.
Overall we have seen a marked improvement in our son's confidence and capability and this has also been recognised by our son's Teacher who now views our son as 'holding his own with his class mates' and is self learning, asking questions of his peers and teacher that are viewed to be sensible and insightful. So great progress to date.
We feel very pleased with the help he's given my son whose confidence is definitely building and Luke is up their with his 'favourite' teachers already. Highly recommended.
