Computer Studies / I.T.
I am an established teacher working in Bristol and lives in South Gloucestershire. I also work for a range of exam boards, as an examiner for a range of Computing, IT and Business courses. My main specialism is vocational courses, where i work as a visiting moderator for a range of schools from Somerset to Gloucestershire, for a range of course for ICT and Business.
I have seen a massive change in the assessment of IT courses over the last 10 years, on both vocational and exam based, which is also the same for Business.
I am working towards the BCS Secondary Computing qualification which is a recognised qualification for the changes to the Computing GCSE course.
Teaching on both vocational and exam based courses means that i drive learning from the actual course specifications. I would do a student profile based on this qualification and build up confidence on their areas of weakness, using contextual exams, as relevant as possible.
Writing frameworks would be used to ensure that students are approaching the answers in the best possible way, ensuring success. This applies to both vocational and exam based courses.
Tracking of progress is important and formative testing would be used to ensure knowledge and independent learning can be encouraged.
