I have been teaching in two different 'outstanding schools' for the past twelve years. I am currently teaching supply for work life balance as I have a daughter, so I’m also available during the daytime in certain days. I have a passion for learning and I really enjoy transferring that passion to children through my teaching. Prior to this I worked in marketing and I have excellent organisational skills which supports my work. During this time, I used to volunteer at an adventure playground. I have always been able to develop excellent relationships and connections with children. I decided to retrain as I wanted to combine this skill with my own love of learning and help children reach their potential. I have also trained in child counselling so I am sensitive to the needs of different children. I live near Bush hill Park station.
My experience of year groups includes reception, year 1, 4,5 and 6 and I am currently doing PPA cover for Reception, Year 2, 3 5 and 6. As a result, I have a broad skillset and the versatility to work with a range of age groups and abilities and I have a good understanding of progression across the year groups. Working in an outstanding school, I receive regular training and have access to reputable schemes of work. I have access to an excellent range of fun resources to support my lessons and engage your child.
My strengths include my knowledge of phonics which I use to support emerging writing and early reading skills. As I have taught across the key stages, I am also experienced in working with children with a wide range of abilities and I am familiar with the core developmental stages in numeracy and literacy. I have experience of KS1 and KS2 SATS level tuition in numeracy and literacy. At school, am a Computing specialist so I can also teach coding.
I want children to feel good about learning. I see tutoring as an ideal opportunity to build a child's self-esteem and confidence, which is central to learning. My lessons are always well planned and resourced and I strive to ensure that they are fun and engaging for the child. In addition to a teaching qualification, I have a degree in psychology. This additional insight into children's learning styles, enhances my ability to nurture and develop their learning and potential.
I have a calm, but firm manner with children, which has proved very effective in developing relationships with children and getting the best out of them.
I like to work collaboratively with parents in order to help them to get the most out of our working relationship. I provide rewards to motivate the children and after each session, I provide feedback and guidance to parents. And if desired, I am also happy to provide training in current teaching methods for parents and even set homework.
