I have a degree in Physical Education BEd (HONS 2:1), qualifying from Sheffield Hallam University in 1994, specialising in Anatomy, Physiology and Biomechanics. I am Learning Coordinator for KS4 and I have a thorough understanding of the demands of 14-19 year olds, particularly with regard to exam pressures.
I am also married, a mum of two boys and enjoy Outdoor and Adventurous Activities. I love teaching and I can enthuse and motivate students to achieve their potential.
I have been teaching PE to GCSE (WJEC and AQA) for 22 years and A Level (AQA) for 20 years. I have examined for AQA A' Level for 8 years. I have always achieved positive value added results for all my GCSE and A Level subjects, with equal success for boys and girls in terms of achievement.
I have always ensured my students achieve the highest possible marks in the top bands (high - very high achiever levels) within the mark schemes for controlled assessments and coursework, in order to ensure maximum marks are achieved. All my students have achieved levels for this area of the syllabus, with 30% achieving full marks. I am a recognised Learning Coach and can advise students on revision and study skills to prepare them for formal exams.
I adopt an individualistic, student centred approach to tutoring with particular emphasis on exam techniques and practice in order to reinforce learning and maximise success, particularly with the extended questions.
I can also advise on coursework and controlled assessments at A Level, with regard to gathering video evidence to ensure maximum marks and section B and C analysis.
I am able to provide 1-1 face to face tutoring in Mid Wales and also can provide online tutoring through SKYPE.
