I am a caring, patient and reliable fully qualified teacher, I attended university in Manchester - where I was brought up before moving to London to study for my PGCE in Primary Education (specialising in Early years). I enjoy working with children and feel that I am an engaging, child centred, positive teacher. I have worked with many types of children both in schools and summer camps in the UK and USA. My availability is limited to after school hours (from 4.30pm)

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching now for over 15 years and can honestly say I enjoy every minute! I was working in a local state school as a year 2 teacher and Key Stage 1 Phase Leader up until September 2022 and am now back in the Early Years as the EYFS lead, however I am qualified to teach and have previously tutored from nursery up to year 6. I believe in positive reinforcement and use a range of strategies to get the best out of the children in my class, this also transfers to private tutoring.

Tutoring Approach

Each child is special and it is for the teacher to instil confidence in him or her to excel and find their potential. In my teaching I find ways to help the children by using contexts that allow the child to engage with the work. I tend to use activities and games in my tutoring rather than dry worksheets as it allows the child to talk through the strategies that are being used and to highlight areas for development which we can then build upon. I encourage the children to ask questions and I try to use the child's interests to plan from i.e. the child loves dinosaurs although he/she was having a problem with reading - I would find stories about dinosaurs and make up phonic games using dinosaur characters to teach with. I am also available to help with school homework.
