Lily

Hello! I am Lily, a 23 year old graduate from Somerset. In my spare time I like reading and being by the sea, and I enjoy all things creative and arty and always have a project on the go! I am also really into music and I play the piano and the flute.

Tutoring Experience

I have grown up in a French-speaking environment and have spent many summers visiting my cousins in the French Alps. In terms of my tutoring, I am lucky enough to have had six years of experience working as a private online French tutor and have come to love the job. I have taught students from as young as 8 years old right up until age 18.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching approach is tailored very specifically to each student, and I am very dedicated to ensuring that the student feels like they are learning at a pace that works for them and also allows them to feel confident and caught up in class. My passion for teaching lies within my belief that to learn best, students must feel as if they are enjoying themselves while they learn. For this reason, I like to tailor my lessons to the students' interests, hobbies and passions - so that the student feels as if they have a purpose to learning french rather than simply to pass an exam! I incorporate games, activities, role plays, films and songs into my lessons to engage my students, whilst maintaining a balance of encouraging good exam technique. For students at a GCSE and A-Level or equivalent standard, one-to-one tutoring is an excellent opportunity to work on spoken and conversational skills, and I encourage as much of this as possible. Should the student feel comfortable enough to do so, I usually aim to conduct at least two thirds of the lesson entirely in French.
I often offer a taster lesson for free so that parents and students alike can assess for themselves whether they believe myself and the student to be a good fit.
