I graduated from South Bank University in London in 1999 with a Bachelors in Education, with my subject specialism being Mathematics. Previously I had part qualified as an accountant but decided to change career. I have been teaching across all year ranges since qualifying, having taught in both London and Cornwall, where I have taught for the last twenty years. I am outgoing and enjoy teaching and helping children fulfill their potential. I am patient and conscientious and believe any task should be enjoyable.

I have experience of preparing children for KS2 SATs and KS3 Maths.

Tutoring Experience

I have been a Primary School teacher for over 20 years and have worked across all age ranges from reception to year 6. I have extensive knowledge in year six and preparing Key Stage 2 children for SAT’s. I have also experience in private tuition in London where I studied and taught for the first two years of my career.

My subject specialism is Maths and have extensive experience of tutoring for Primary and Secondary Education in this subject.

I have experience of a range of teaching and learning styles which allows me to create an individual teaching programme to suit the needs of each child, so they can feel a sense of achievement and are aware of how they are progressing and what is needed for them to achieve their given targets.

I have experience of working with children with special education needs as well as more able children and ensure that they are supported so as they are able to make the progress required.

Tutoring Approach

I like children to feel a sense of achievement after a lesson, with them being aware of what is needed so they can have targets they can work towards in future lessons or independently.
Encouragement and supporting the child’s individual needs are essential if they are to progress, so the child can become more confident and independent in his or her learning both in and outside the classroom.
I use a range of resources and strategies in my teaching and always ensure that all lessons are fun.
