Leah

I am a 20 year old university student with A-levels of AAA in maths and further maths along with geography. Having recently sat GCSE exams myself, I am able to engage and empathise with my students. I have found that because of this, tutees tend to find it easier to ask me questions due to the fact the experience of studying for GCSEs is very much still a recent memory for me. I can also empathise with the struggles of academic studies throughout the pandemic as I know first hand how it feels to have been a student changing between online and in-person education.

Tutoring Experience

I have previously tutored a range of different students, from year 5 SATs level, to year 11 higher level GCSE. One of my students (year 9) who, since I began tutoring her has managed to moved from set 7 to set 2 in maths. All of my other students have also seen significant improvement in their mathematical ability. I also have some international students who are seeking support with their iGCSE maths. I have two students who achieved their results this summer - one (who was working at grade 7/8 standard in September) achieved a grade 9 in iGCSE statistics, and the other (who was working at grade 6 standard in September) achieved a grade 7 in GCSE maths.

Tutoring Approach

I tend to have a more easy-going approach to my tutoring sessions as I am aware that it can be quite intimidating to be tutored by an unfamiliar face. This has also allowed my students' confidence in maths to increase as they feel less intimidated by maths and feel like they are able to ask any questions necessary to help them grasp the subject matter.
