I have 27 years experience as a primary classroom teacher and as a one to one tutor for all primary ages, years 1 to 6 including reception. I teach Maths, English, SATs preparation and I specialise in the 11 + entrance exams with excellent results! I teach all abilities and I do both online and face to face teaching and I provide all resources. I feel very passionate about tutoring students and helping them to succeed extremely rewarding!

Tutoring Experience

I have in depth experience of teaching the National Curriculum Maths and English to Key Stage 1 and 2 from from years 1 to 6 in primary schools.

My teaching experience also includes SATs preparation for years 2 and 6 as well as teaching the 11+ for grammar school’s entrance exams. I have also got ample experience of private tuition, teaching children on a one to one basis and small groups. I teach children from a range of abilities including the high achieving students who need challenging and pushing to children with special educational needs.

I also have experience teaching Early Years and I am fully trained to teach basic skills including phonics. I have experience in working with students whose first language may not be English and I am able to understand and speak fluent Hindi and Punjabi.

Tutoring Approach

My prime goal is for my students to make progress as quickly as possible! However I also believe building confidence and having a good rapport with the student is just as important.

I make my lessons challenging and engaging but fun and my aim is always to stretch each student to their maximum capabilities so they can reach their full potential. In the first lesson I always assess each student in the subjects they will be learning so I am able to tailor the lessons according to their individual needs and gaps in learning if any.

I always provide follow up homework to extend the learning after each lesson and I also offer guidance and support my students may need with homework given by their schools. I give detailed feedback on the student’s progress to parents after every lesson.
