I am a qualified teacher of RE and an experienced tutor. I have a BA in Philosophy Religion and Ethics, and a Masters in Christian Theology which I passed with merit; these were attained at Heythrop College, the specialist Philosophy and Theology College of the University of London. Following my graduation, I was employed to teach at Heythrop College which I did for 6 years. My PGCE (module grades: A&A) , in teaching Religious Education for KS.3-5, was attained at the Institute of Education, UCL, and I am now a full time teacher in a London secondary school.
As well as being a published poet and author, I am a member of the British Dyslexia association - since 2015, a certified Trinity Arts Award Adviser and currently teach full time.
I specialize in tutoring GCSE and A Level: AQA, Edexcel and OCR, but I also accept university students depending on the area of study.
As a private Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies tutor, I have successfully prepared students studying for exams under the AQA, Edexcel, OCR and CCEA exam-boards for: A Level, AS and GCSE. I have also tutored students from a range of universities who are studying for BA degrees in Philosophy, Theology, Divinity and combinations of these subjects, and I am familiar with the WJEC/Educas specification.
In addition, I have tutored many students for entrance exams - all with successful entry. The most prestigious of which would be the Eton entrance exams, of which I have taught the following papers: General I, General II, English and the Divinity element of the 'Divinity, Geography and History exam'. I also currently offer tuition for ABRSM piano Grades 1-6, music theory Grades 1-5 and A Level Music piano (performance element).
I have progressed through many roles within education since I first taught in 2006. These include: a peripatetic piano teacher, a secondary school teacher for K.S 3-5, an English language tutor at a specialist school in Kensington, and an academic study skills tutor at The University of London.
My tutoring approach is grounded upon my approach to life; I believe education is a powerful tool that empowers people to achieve their potential and lead fulfilling lives. I strongly believe in a combination of academic success, paired with life experiences - neither can stand alone in a holistic education. While my primary goal is to better the student through academia, this is not, I believe, possible without a tailored teaching experience that revolves around students' personal interests, their unique abilities and passions. Students must be allowed to explore the syllabus in a way that is personal. Then, education truly becomes beautiful.
As well as being committed to my students, I am concerned with local and national citizenship; I use 100% renewable electricity, offset 100% of my home gas usage and offer a discount to Blue Light Card holders.
