Kwaku

I am a qualified medical doctor and graduate from Imperial College London with a First Class BSc with honours in Medical Biosciences with Management. I am a gregarious, hard-working and versatile individual with a passion for teaching and empowering the youth of today through learning. Furthermore, I have particular interest in science and the molecular processes which underpin our way of life.

At GCSE, I achieved A*'s in Maths, English and Sciences and was consequently rewarded the highest achiever in both Maths and Chemistry. I achieved all A*/A at A level and achieved the highest raw mark in my year group in chemistry. Having applied to medical school, I can provide guidance on the application process, particularly on entrance exams such as the BMAT and UKCAT.

Tutoring Experience

I have previously tutored 46 A level and GCSE students, in maths, chemistry and biology over 8 years and also have gone successfully tutored students for 11+ entrance exams. My students have gone on to achieve the highest attainable grades, including A*/A's in their exams. My experience has taught me the need to adapt teaching styles based on the individual and indeed one size doesn't fit all. As a student myself, I appreciate the intricacies of studying and use my own experiences and wisdom to ensure my pupils don't make the same mistakes I made. Furthermore, I appreciate the need for an individualised approach to each tutee and the need for a rapport to maximise the results of each session and enable my tutees to achieve their maximal potential. I've been able to hone these skills through my work teaching primary school children maths and also through my volunteering experience working in an autistic school in Ghana. Also, I have helped tutor medicine applicants who went onto obtain places at medical school.

Tutoring Approach

From personal experience, I believe the best way to obtain good grades is through repetition and practice of examination questions. I tailor my teaching based on what style suits the tutee. Then I ensure the tutee has an understanding of the fundamental content, ensuring they're actively processing the information. Then via past papers, these concepts are applied to unfamiliar questions to recognise if gaps in knowledge exist and if so they can be addressed accordingly
