I'm a teacher who very much enjoys my job, in particular witnessing the penny drop moments when students grasp tricky concepts for the first time. Aside from teaching, I am a keen musician, and I like to keep fit and healthy.
I am a head of science specialising in Physics at a secondary school, and have 7 years teaching experience. I have successfully tutored many students in the past to GCSE and A Level in the sciences and mathematics, since my degree is in mathematics and physics. I run a whole school project on metacognition and am very interested in how people learn most effectively. I am also the whole school numeracy coordinator so have strong links with the mathematics faculty. Education is my vocation and I take great pride in supporting learners to achieve their academic goals.
I always base my teaching around problems and exam style questions so students become very familiar with the style of questioning in preparation for their exams. Initially I model how to complete worked examples and then move on to working on problems together, then gradually remove the scaffolding, eventually leading to students becoming independent in tackling the problems in time for their examinations.
