Personal Description:

As a psychology A-level teacher of eleven years, I have met thousands of students. I have loved introducing them to a subject I have been involved in since I was 16 years old. My psychology A -level was the start of my enjoyment of the subject and I love to share this with my students.

After my A-levels I studied a BA psychology with media and popular culture. Whilst studying I volunteered in many areas of psychology include working with forensic psychologists and probation officers, clinical psychologists and worked at a mental health Drop in center.

I always wanted to be a teacher and after my degree I was fortunate enough to get a place on a PGCE social science programme with a psychology specialism. We're I taught psychology A-level and GCSE, as well as media in three schools in Shropshire. Working in a school has taught my many techniques to aid students achievement.

Since graduating I have worked at a very well respected sixth form college in Winchester and had much experience with all types of A-Level student. Here I have attending many training courses with AQA and benefitted from working with a large profession team of psychology teachers.

More recently I have been gain practical experience of developmental psychology with my young daughter.

Tutoring Experience:

11 years at Peter Symonds College in Winchester.
One year of teaching introduction to psychology for the Open University.
Many hours of private tuition completed.

Tutoring Approach:

Tutoring needs to be individual. We will start exploring difficulties individual students are having and will work together to approach these difficulties one by one.

Now is a good time to begin tutoring, particularly if you feel you underachieved in your year 1 studies.

Some students may benefit from simply practicing and having feedback on exam questions. Some will want to discuss specific topics and some will want to practice their study skills. All of these can be accommodated in what I hope is a friendly and professional manner.
