I am a fully qualified teacher of ICT and Computer Science, as well as a Maths tutor, with over 10 years of experience teaching both in the UK and abroad. My passion for education drives me to continuously reflect on and refine my teaching methods, ensuring that I provide the best possible learning experience for my students.
Outside of the classroom, I have a deep love for adventure and exploration. I’ve hiked and rock climbed in Spain, surfed in Australia, and travelled across Europe by train. These experiences fuel my curiosity and love of learning, which I bring into my teaching.
Mathematics Tutoring
I am an experienced tutor specialising in Mathematics from Key Stage 3 up to GCSE and IGCSE. Each session is carefully tailored to meet the unique needs of individual students, including those who struggle with numeracy or have additional learning needs such as dyscalculia. I pace my lessons thoughtfully, allowing students to practice formulas, identify patterns in problem-solving, and fully grasp techniques for simplifying and solving algebraic expressions, fractions, and equations across various aspects of the syllabus.
Computer Science
As the founding teacher of the ICT and Computer Science department at my school, I have successfully introduced these subjects at both A-level and IGCSE. I create personalised lessons that cater to the abilities of all learners, from the more advanced to those who need additional support, fostering independence and critical thinking to reinforce theoretical knowledge.
My teaching has consistently led to outstanding results, with IGCSE and A-level students under my guidance achieving top scores over the last two years. With six years of tutoring experience, I have guided numerous students through their GCSE, IGCSE, and A-level exams. I support students in mastering theory content, practicing past exam papers, and choosing suitable A-level projects that earn high marks. Additionally, I offer programming instruction in languages such as Python and Pygame, helping students strengthen their coding skills for both exams and practical applications.
I begin by having a conversation with the learner to understand their strengths, weaknesses, and learning style. This allows me to tailor lessons specifically to their needs and ensure they are relevant and engaging. I like to prepare my lessons in advance to offer the best outcome for my students, so any topics or questions need to be given to me beforehand so I can prepare adequately.
I prioritise making the lessons interactive and student-centred. By involving the learner actively in the process, they build confidence and grasp concepts more effectively. My goal is to create an environment where the learner feels supported and not overwhelmed by information.
Ultimately, my aim is to simplify complex topics, making difficult concepts easy to understand and apply. I strive to break down barriers to learning and ensure the learner gains a deep understanding in a way that feels manageable and enjoyable.
