My name is Keeley, I am 19 years old and from the North East of England. I am autistic and have experienced mental health struggles in the past so I understand the effects these things can have on education, as well as just general stress. I am currently completing an Undergraduate degree (BSc Honours in Psychology) with the Open University so have extensive experience of learning online. I also have been an online tutor since 2022 so have experience with tutoring online too.

Tutoring Experience

I have been a tutor with GoStudent since 2022 and have done over 1000 hours of this. I have experience tutoring students in of all ages across various subjects including Psychology, Sociology, Geography, Biology and English. With this experience I have also covered all the main exam boards such as AQA, Edexcel, OCR, CIE and Eduqas/WJEC.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching approach varies depending on the students learning style. Some of my students in the past benefit from a more interactive approach therefore I made sure that this was a common theme throughout our sessions. Other students of mine have preferred a more lecture style way of teaching whereby I just teach them the content and they can ask questions as and when necessary. Futhermore, some students have favoured a more mixed approach and we have done this too.

Therefore, I don't have one distinct teaching style or approach. I make sure to tailor every lesson to each individual student. If a student isn't sure of their learning style we tend to do some trial and error to find something that works best.

The main theme that I include throughout all of these different teaching approaches is providing a comfortable environment for students. I make sure students are aware they can ask me questions at any point and actively encourage this. I make sure to reassure students and to help their confidence grow and even if they are unsure of something, I ensure that they know this is okay and we will work around a different way of going through the content to help the understand.
