I am married with four adult children and I live in Hartland, near Bideford in North Devon. I have a Second Class Honours Degree in Botany and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education ( Biology). Both were obtained from the University of Manchester.
I have been a Biology teacher for 37 years and I have been a Head of Department for twelve years. I have extensive experience of working in both UK and overseas. I have worked in the state and private sectors in UK and at seven different international schools in Africa and the Middle East. These schools all followed the British National Curriculum. I am now retired from full time teaching but I am as passionate as ever about my subject .

Tutoring Experience

Twelve years at the Radcliffe School in Oldham.
Two years at St John Rigby Sixth Form College in Wigan.
Five years at Shebbear College in North Devon as Head of Biology.
One year in Nigeria and one in Botswana.
Five years in Kenya and five in Egypt.
Three years in Oman
Two years in Qatar.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to tutoring is to bring the subject of Biology alive. I have always been fascinated by all aspects of Biology and in my teaching/tutoring I feel it is my responsibility to generate an enthusiasm that my tutees can absorb. I feel strongly that exam success can be built through better confidence and enjoyment of the work. Having taught students from around the world I am confident that I can tailor my tutoring sessions to meet the needs of students of all abilities.
In my tutoring sessions I will always use various computer based websites in order to illustrate important biological concepts and this also enables my tutees to carry out further research and lesson reinforcement.
