Keelan

My name is Keelan, I am 25, and I have completed my medical degree at the University of Southampton. I was tutored myself when I was in college and in secondary school so feel I have a strong understanding of the expectations of what makes a good tutor. I studied Biology, Chemistry and History at A-level and achieved an AAA set of results. I can be relatively flexible with tutoring hours, as I have less contact hours than usual, due to the recent completion of my degree.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked at extra curricular clubs at a local specialist school for many years part time, with ages ranging from 11-18 so have plenty of experience with working and communicating with younger and older children. Furthermore, Biology forms a huge chunk of my degree so I am up to date with all of human Biology as well as having a very strong understanding of the other aspects of Biology from my time studying it at A-Level. Overall this means I am comfortably able to understand and teach students at a GCSE standard.

Tutoring Approach

I am happy to travel close in my local area, I can answer any questions you may have via the First Tutors site. If you decide to proceed, I am then willing to do a free introductory chat or meeting to introduce myself to the student and/or parents to help everything feel more comfortable when the teaching sessions begin, and to confirm that I will be able to help a student with their targets. Despite being a student and not a teacher, I have sat these exams myself and know the sorts of techniques examiners may use in order to catch students out. In addition I am able to help students structure longer Biology answers in order to maximise marks. I will often not only focus on content but also help a student with practise questions and help them to be able to structure an answer effectively in order to produce succinct answers that quickly acquire marks.
