I am an Oxford University graduate with a First Class degree in Law. Prior to this, I did the International Baccalaureate, in which I achieved the top score of 45 points. Whilst from the UK, I grew up living in lots of countries - including China, Dubai, and Thailand. Whilst living in China, I did my IGCSEs, securing 10 A*s.
When I don't have my head stuck in a book, I love cooking and going on long walks with my dog.
I have been working as a private tutor for the last six years and in that time, I have tutored across all levels and subjects. I have extensive experience tutoring students in Law university admissions, the 11+ and 13+ entrance exams, GCSE maths and English, and second-language English.
When tutoring, I set out to achieve two things above all else: improving a student's understanding of a subject, and their relationship with that subject. Therefore, my sessions look to both cover the syllabus methodically and also enhance my students' engagement with and confidence in their subjects. This gives my students ownership over their work, which will serve to improve their relationship with academic work in the long term.
Absolutely essential to achieving these aims is remaining flexible and adopting an approach this is adjusted to each student's particular needs. This is something I strive to achieve with all my students.
A typical lesson will begin by covering a new area of the syllabus, before working to consolidate that information. I often use past paper questions, thus giving students the opportunity to utilise new information whilst also finessing examination technique.
