Experienced A level chemistry and GCSE science teacher. I am also an examiner. I hold a Bsc in Chemistry and a PGCE. I have 15 years experience as a classroom teacher.

I teach Science to GCSE and Chemistry at A level. I hold a Bsc (hons) Chemistry from the University of Sheffield and a PGCE from the University of Sheffield. I have an excellent knowledge of the exam specifications and am also aware of what students struggle with and how to help them overcome any issues. I have vast experience of tutoring students who wish to enter medical school and dental school, as well as students who really struggle with the A level. I feel the greatest barrier to overcome when studying the subject is confidence. This improves with plenty of practice and encouragement from someone who understands the course. Often in school, students are in large classes; 30+ students at GCSE and often 20+ at A level so students understandably don’t’y get the attention they need from school staff.

Tutoring Experience

I have over 15 years experience of teaching students in the 11-18 age range, all abilities. I am friendly and approachable and really enjoy helping students overcome their difficulties. I am an examiner.
I would be available to tutor GCSE or A level chemistry. I also offer biology and physics up to GCSE level.
I also have experience of being a form tutor to sixth form students and I can help with any personal statement preparation for university applications.

Tutoring Approach

I have many years of experience of explaining difficult concepts to students of all abilities. I also have experience of teaching exam technique and have a good understanding of what comes up on exams and decoding the wording of exam questions. I believe students benefit working through lots of exam questions as similar questions are often repeated. The mathematical parts of the A level course are often challenging, and I have vast experience of guiding students through their difficulties.
