Private Chemistry Tuition in Glasgow

Hey, I’m Kate, a Lecturer in Chemistry at Glasgow Caledonian University. Currently on maternity leave with my daughter! I have a PhD and Masters degree in Chemistry from The University of Glasgow and a postgraduate qualification in higher education teaching from Glasgow Caledonian University. Research wise I work on new novel materials and characterisation. I teach from first year up to degree level chemistry and supervise 3 PhD students. I'm a warm, calm, fun person and firmly believe if I can succeed in Chemistry then with the right help anyone can! Proudest achievement was winning the GCU Terrific Teaching Award 2022 nominated by my students. I’m excited to tutor higher, advanced higher and A level chemistry because at GCU I designed and built the first year chemistry course (equivalent to these levels) and have received 100% student satisfaction 4 years in a row!

Tutoring Approach

Friendly, non-stressful, understanding and calm environment. I tend to spend the first part of the lesson listening and asking questions on your experiences to get a better understanding of your own unique learning style and tailor the sessions accordingly.

Teaching philosophy - Just because you don’t understand something doesn’t mean you don’t get it, it just means I need to try at different way of explaining it!
