I completed a PhD in stem cell biology in 2012 and now work as a senior postdoctoral researcher at University College London, researching lung cancer. I have a Masters degree in Biomedical Research from Imperial College London and a Bachelors degree in Biochemistry from the University of York. I studied Biology, Chemistry, History and Latin at A Level and achieved As in each subject. I have good communication skills and really enjoy teaching. I am passionate about science and enjoy sharing this with students. I enjoy cooking, socialising, reading and travelling.
I have experience tutoring many students in GCSE biology and chemistry, as well as A level biology. My students have gone on to do well in their exams. Part of my job as a postdoctoral researcher is to supervise and teach Masters and PhD students.
Every student's style of working is different, so I usually begin by getting to know the student and the level they are working at. I also ask the student to explain what they hope to get out of tutoring and the areas that they need most assistance with. I ensure that the student and I get on well, and then I design a tutoring plan. Before a lesson, I always ensure I am well-prepared and my knowledge of the curriculum is up to date. I am a patient person with good communication skills and try to build a good rapport with the student.
