This is how 3 referees rated Karen:
I am a French graduate who has lived in France and I have taught French extensively from age 3 to adult over a period of more than 20 years. I have an A level in Latin and have taught this subject (including literature set texts) in various schools for 15 years. I am currently employed on a part time basis, in a girls' independent school in Surrey where I teach both subjects. As I approach retirement age, I am keen to build up my tutoring as I intend to continue this once I have retired. To date all my tutoring has come from word of mouth recommendations.
I have 20 years teaching French in schools and tutoring individuals. I have worked as an Examiner for AQA for a number of years at GCSE level. I have taught Latin at Prep school level since 1997 and at GCSE Level since 2005 and am familiar with most of the set texts which are part of the literature specification.I have been accepted by OCR as an Examiner for GCSE Latin but have not been required so far.
My initial approach is diagnostic. What does the tutee find difficult? Which areas does he/she wish to focus on? I will set work to do and give detailed feedback as to what and where improvements are needed.
