Being a part-time enthusiastic and professional Maths tutor, I have had many years of tutoring experience. Other than preparing pupils to sit their SATs, GCSE or A level Examinations, Common Entrance Exams, UK Maths Challenges, Oxford PAT Test; I also provide one to one and group interventions programs to help pupils ‘catch up’ and exceed on the curriculum.

I am now a registered childminder with Ofsted based in Southampton, England since late 2017. I am qualified to offer childcare and tutoring services for children aged between 5 and 18 years old. Depend on the needs of your child, I can offer private lessons at your home or from my own registered home which fully comply with the requirements of the Ofsted Childcare Register. (These ensure and promote the wellbeing and safeguarding of the children under my care.)

Moreover, I am not only currently working as a lead tutor at Hants Tutoring And Childcare Services Limited (Ofsted URN: 2513671) but also taking the role of regional coordinator at V & W Educational Consultancy Ltd. I always have a passion with educating, safeguarding and supporting children’s development.

Tutoring Experience

My teaching experience started in 2008 when I worked in Hong Kong Family Learning Association. Upon returning to the UK, I have had many tutoring experience at many different secondary schools across Hampshire to date as well as private tuition experience.

Tutoring Approach

I came across of "Vygotsky" theory when I worked in Hong Kong. The importance of this theory is for the tutor to raise the learner's competence through identifying and enhancing an individual's "zone of proximal development (ZPD)".

In line with the new National Curriculum and the relevant Exam Board's materials, I will first identify the learner's current developmental level then apply the appropriate strategies and practical approaches to improve their understanding of Mathematics. With ongoing tutoring support and home learning materials, these would enable my learners to reinforce previous knowledge and develop fundamental skills and concepts. In addition, regular assessments are used to track and monitor the learner's progress, as well as enabling me to adjust my teaching style and technicality of my lessons to take into account of individual difference.

For a more able learner, I would set higher target and challenges for them to exceed their current ZPD level.

Nonetheless, I have also worked with pupils with learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyscalculia where a mixtures of different visual resources and hand-on technique (e.g. Ronit Bird's approach) are used to maintain attention and build up their confidence in Mathematics.

Regardless of an individual's Mathematics capabilities, I believe every child has a underlying potential waiting to be explored and developed. Along with the "Vygotsky" theory, as a Maths tutor, it is my role to motivate, guide and assist my learners to ensure they develop their understanding and interest in Mathematics.

Please note that I tutor for all aspects of Exam Preparations, Maths Challenges, Pre-tests and Non-verbal reasoning. It only costs £100 per hour.
