I have spent the last 12 years developing the skills I need to be a successful teacher and tutor. I specialize in teaching Numeracy and English. I have pioneered various writing projects having collaborated with Dulwich Picture Gallery on the visual representation of literature pieces and I have also written for the Guardian newspaper. I have also worked to develop my own curriculum and embed programs of study in schools.

Tutoring Experience

I first began tutoring at 16 years old and began volunteering in local schools while in College. While attending University I became a student ambassador and began teaching Journalism Masterclasses. During this period I also became an Aim Higher sports associate mentoring and tutoring children in college and pupil referral units. After Graduating University specializing in Journalism and Sociology I undertook a 1 year Post Graduate Certificate in Education which consisted of teaching development, theory and working in schools around London. I have since been teaching professionally for 6 years at Primary Level.

Tutoring Approach

My experience has taught me that learning should be the focus rather than teaching. My tutoring style is therefore underpinned by identifying what type of learner each pupil is and their pace of learning. The next step is to identify the gaps in the pupil's knowledge that will ultimately stop them making progress if not addressed. I then focus on laying a foundation for future learning by addressing these gaps, then building on top of these foundations to make progress.
