Julie

I am an Oxford graduate with an MA in Modern Languages. I love to travel and have spent time in Belgium as an au pair, Germany looking after handicapped adults, living in France for a year as part of my degree and three years living and working in Spain.

After university I stayed on in Oxford tutoring for entrance exams, e.g. Harrow, and for French GCSE and 'A' level.

I then moved to London where I worked in the Market Research industry for 12 years.

I recently lived in Barcelona where I set up my own business as an Business English trainer working mainly for blue chip companies and government bodies. I have also taught exam preparation classes to teenagers and young adults preparing for university entry.

Tutoring Experience

English - in France at a lycee and also to adults at the Chamber of Commerce; in Barcelona to business directors and government officials; in London to high level directors in the city and premier league footballers and their families. All levels from complete beginners to proficiency. Both small groups and one-to-ones.

French - GCSE and 'A' level French. All exam students have to date received an A/8 or A*/9. I also teach French to rugby professionals.

Spanish - I teach Spanish GCSE level and IB and my exam students to date have received top grades. I also teach Spanish to football professionals.

Tutoring Approach

I have a real passion for languages - having studied French, German, Latin and Spanish.

I really believe that languages should be fun to learn and that is the teacher's responsibility to engage the students and show them the benefits of learning a new language and show them that it can be a fun experience. One student who was part of a group I was tutoring at a pre GSCE Easter course told me that, 'before the classes with you, I used to hate French - now I love it!'

Specialist online lessons using video conferencing and document sharing. Am happy to run small online group lessons - maximum four students per group.
