I have been teaching Russian privately both online via Skype and in person on a one-to-one basis since 2007 covering Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening elements of language to both children and adults of all levels as well as proofreading and translating my students' research and essay projects.

Working as a SEN Assistant/ Teaching Assistant introduced me to National Curriculum and also allowed me to build relationships with teachers, parents and other school staff. I gained experience of imposing authority in a professional manner and performing such administrative duties as photocopying, compiling letters and writing reports on pupils' progress so I am comfortable with those. I was also able to witness the progress in children’s learning patterns implemented by both my colleagues and I which I found extremely rewarding. As a result, I can appreciate the need for thorough planning and observation as well as importance of praise and rewards.
I tailor my lessons depending on the skill needed, be that conversation, grammar or reading. Having studied Latvian, French, German and English myself I can relate to and anticipate any difficulties of learning languages and always try to plan lessons in a fun and challenging way. I use appropriate study materials and adapt the pace and homework to suit the needs of an individual student. First lesson is dedicated to establishing any prior knowledge of Russian and agreeing on a suitable study plan to achieve necessary results.
