Julia Jane MA, BA (hons) DTLLS
Arts Educator

Tutoring Experience:

I currently teach in sixth form colleges and as a History of Art lecturer at Morley College, Waterloo, London. And as an Arts Educator and Mentor to private students of art. Having been in education and training since 1990, I began to develop my arts education practice in 2010.

You can choose from tuition in: History of Art including — Critical Approaches, Contextual Themes. Fine Art including — Materials and Techniques, Mixed Media, Collage, Textiles, Painting & Drawing, Portfolio & Personal Statement Preparation.

For both History of Art and Fine Art: Academic Writing - essays/disserations. Peer-to-peer critique practice and prepartion.

Tutoring Approach:

My approach develops independence in a learner. This builds self-belief and equips learners with the tools needed for future learning. Embracing all aspects of a subject brings it to life and improves outcomes. And tutoring sometimes takes place in art galleries — the best understanding being gained by engaging first hand with the art works.

In an ideal world I advise a combination of tuition that is face-to-face, in the art gallery and online. However, it depends on circumstance and student preference. There is no right or wrong way to learn.

For those students who love the immediate and flexible online method, I use a professional conferencing platform to offer an enhanced learning experience — we can work upon your essay, onscreen together and I can record your tutorials and email the recording to you for recap and revision.

I enjoy online tutoring, it is flexible and fun.
