A lecturer in French at the Open University since 2002, I am a highly qualified & experienced tutor. I have been teaching languages for 33 years in both further & higher education. I speak French fluently & have taught in a secondary school in the Lot area of France & have been a tutor at Open University residential summer schools at Caen University in Normandy. My hobbies include cricket, football & ballet. I watch the first two & participate in the third!

Tutoring Experience

My teaching career started with French in the FE sector in 1990 & I added Latin to my repertoire in 2007. I have taught French & Latin to adults at Wiltshire College & have also taught French at Bath Spa University. I have tutored many students privately, offering support on a wide range of courses including French & Latin for adults, GCSE French, A Level French & the Pre U course.

Tutoring Approach

My classes are tailored to individual needs - that is one of the benefits of private tuition. Past students have said that I have "increased their confidence" & that they enjoyed the "fun lessons". I aim to create a light-hearted element in all my teaching as I believe that if students are relaxed & enjoying classes, learning will take place & they are more likely to continue with their studies.

I mainly teach online on Zoom but, when there is availability, I can travel to students' homes locally. I might need to add a small fee, just to cover petrol costs.
