I have taught online lessons since March and am now booking students for next academic year from early September as all my summer availability is taken. Online Zoom lessons have proved very successful and I am very happy to continue with these next term.
I have found that this method of teaching can be equally productive and enjoyable for all and certainly far more convenient for busy students and their parents!
I have many years' experience of teaching English Language and English Literature in schools - both state and independent - and also Theatre Studies. For the past 10 years I have, in addition, offered one to one tuition, both in person and now online, with a strong focus on GCSE, A level English Literature and OXBRIDGE and university entrance.
I am also a writer of fiction - (publishing under a different surname) and know that my approach as a writer to the importance of language and the significance of literature contributes very positively to what I can offer my students. I offer creative writing tutorials and workshops to individuals and small groups.
I have taught and tutored students for many years at secondary level in both English, Drama and Creative Writing and have achieved exemplary results with all calibre of students.(2019 results for both A level and GCSE were exceptionally good with all students gaining grades considerably beyond their expectations.)
I hold a very successful record of helping students find greater confidence in facing the challenges of the subject; in addition, my tutoring always aids students in achieving higher grades at GCSE and A level. I have also helped students preparing for Oxbridge entrance. I particularly enjoy encouraging and extending students' enjoyment and appreciation of language and literature and helping them to gain confidence in approaching their English studies. Often, it is simply a lack of exam technique that is preventing success.
Recently, I have begun online tutoring to students in all parts of the world.
I examined A level Literature for 5 years and have also worked extensively as an examiner of drama. I have worked with many students applying for drama school auditions. I have also worked with foreign students, helping their fluency and conversational ability.
As a writer of fiction I have published many short stories nationally and internationally, two novels and have recently completed my third novel.
I have a friendly, informal yet structured approach to tutoring.
I am happy to devise courses to suit specific needs or to focus entirely on areas where students believe they are struggling. Passionate about my subject, I believe I can engage and enthuse with all students - raising their level of achievement and broadening their appreciation and expertise.
