I prep students for top independent school exams in and around London.

I have tutored exam-prep at 11+ for several years. I have ample experience in various areas of education and the arts: I worked in schools at primary and secondary level, and spent time teaching and mentoring in South America. I have extensive experience as an actor and writer; I am a trained therapeutic counsellor. My experience in these fields greatly benefits my work in education.

Before messaging with enquiries, please note that I currently work solely with students aged 8-12, most of whom are preparing for entry to independent and grammar schools at 11+ and 13+.

Tutoring Approach

To begin with, I look to identify what the student feels less comfortable with, before going on to explore different ways we can improve their knowledge and technique, thereby helping them to express themselves at school and in exams. I plan my lessons accordingly, including mock exams, marking, consultation with the parent and regular homework and reading.

I endeavour to inspire all my pupils to realise their potential, removing any blockages and approaching each session with a calm clarity in a focused, positive environment, free of stress and fear. I believe that by and large my students come to feel empowered by their sense of progress and soon grow in confidence, developing an enthusiasm for reading, creative writing and problem solving, something which benefits their other studies.

With those preparing for exams, we'll spend much of our time working through and analysing test papers. I have access to a wealth of material relevant to entrance exams and overall learning, both in paper-form and online, which should save clients a substantial amount of money. Please note that exam preparation will often require a fairly significant amount of homework as pupils will be expected to complete practice papers out of lesson and carefully selected worksheets or online practices based on the previous lesson's findings.

I tailor my lessons according to the tutee's grasp of the subject with the focus on making things fun, fast, engaging and demanding.
