I am 38 years old and have been teaching A Level and GCSE English, History and Maths in secondary school and now sixth form college for 14 years, in which time my results have far surpassed national pass rates. Moreover, due to these outstanding pass rates and innovative teaching methods, I was promoted to Assistant Head of Department; helping us to be awarded an internal grade 1 "Outstanding" for the 4 years during which I held the post.

Moreover, due to this long history of being a stand-out professional in the education sector, my advice has been sought out for occasional media and radio appearances for discussions on educational policy, whilst also being head-hunted to tutor the children of prominent sports men/women, members of the business world, and even a Nobel Prize winner for a month (which was awesome!) :)

Furthermore, in also being a passionate part-time property investor and honorary co-founder of my own property company alongside my partner and her team, I have spoken to Year 11 students on the qualities of entrepreneurship, and how to begin their own journey within property investment, which is always extremely rewarding.

In my remaining spare time, I really enjoy playing the drums, reading history voraciously, travelling to my beloved Italy, supporting Manchester United, and playing the Playstation (although not as much as I used to, these days!)

As my full and varied career has hopefully shown, I have a passion for English, maths and history, and take great pride in providing an excellent education to all of my students, seeing it as crucial to success in their later careers.

Tutoring Experience

I have a broad range of experience turning around failing classes, as well as challenging high achieving students. In my teaching and tutoring career thus far I have taught a wide age range from 7-18 years (as well as adults), and specialise in teaching troubled students and those lacking confidence, as well as pushing very bright pupils.

Since I began teaching at my institution, English pass-rates received a 25% upwards leap in the opening two years and my tutoring Mathematics pass grades were outstanding, so that the vast majority of my classes/tutees are now passing with excellent academic grades and attaining entry to prestigious preparatory schools and/or universities. With these excellent results I was made an advanced teaching practitioner, tasked with passing on my skills to other teachers and helping drive up standards.

Tutoring Approach

Besides enjoying superb results, my pupils benefit from a relaxed yet challenging atmosphere, with high commitment being expected of them and this has shown to bring both personal and academic growth, which is always pleasing to see. Moreover, in strengthening self-esteem and exciting the minds of my students, to provide them with the skills they need to excel in later life, I seek to provide them with only the finest education possible.

Throughout my teaching career in inner-city Birmingham schools and colleges, I have become known for never leaving any learner behind, whilst using creative methods in covering the curriculum in an accessible and enjoyable way. Education should be a joy, not a chore, and I always do my best to ensure this.
