I am 33 years old and have been teaching A Level and GCSE English, History and Maths at sixth form college for 12 years, in which time my results have far surpassed national pass rates. Moreover, due to these outstanding pass rates and innovative teaching methods, I have been promoted to Assistant Head of Department; helping us to be awarded a grade 1 "Outstanding" for the past 8 years.
Moreover, due to this long history of being a stand-out professional in the education sector, my advice has been sought out for occasional media and radio appearances for discussions on educational policy, whilst also being head-hunted to tutor the children of prominent sports men/women, members of the business world, and have even been lucky enough to tutor a Nobel Prize winner (which was awesome!) :)
I have a passion for English, maths and history, and take great pride in providing an excellent education to all of my students, seeing it as crucial to success in their later careers.
I have a broad range of experience turning around failing classes, as well as challenging high achieving students. In my teaching career thus far I have taught a wide age range from 8-18 years, and specialise in teaching troubled students and those lacking confidence, as well as pushing very bright pupils.
Since I began teaching at my institution, English pass-rates have received a 25% upwards leap in two years and Mathematics high grades have increased by 17%, so that the vast majority of my classes are now passing with excellent academic grades and attaining entry to prestigious preparatory schools and/or universities. With these excellent results I have now been made an advanced teaching practitioner, tasked with passing on my skills to other teachers and helping drive up standards.
Besides enjoying superb results, my pupils benefit from a relaxed yet challenging atmosphere, with high commitment being expected of them and this has shown to bring both personal and academic growth, which is always pleasing to see. Moreover, in strengthening self-esteem and exciting the minds of my students, to provide them with the skills they need to excel in later life, I seek to provide them with only the finest education possible.
Throughout my teaching career in inner-city Birmingham schools, I have become known for never leaving any learner behind, whilst using creative methods in covering the curriculum in an accessible and enjoyable way. Education should be a joy, not a chore, and I always do my best to ensure this.
