I am a family man with two primary school age children. My wife is also a teacher and we live in Ipswich. I am passionate about languages and have tried my hand at 10 different ones over the years.
I am a fully qualified teacher (QTS) with six year's experience of teaching French and Spanish up to A-level in Suffolk comprehensive schools. I have a full Enhanced DBS (CRB) certificate.
I have privately tutored numerous students in French and Spanish up to A-level.
I am familiar with AQA, Edexcel and OCR exam specifications.
I have a proven track record of improving my students' predicted and actual grades over time. Of my 2018 GCSE Spanish class of 18 students, 4 received grade 9 and 2 received grade 8.
I have an informal approach to tutoring. I try to adapt my lessons to strengths and weaknesses of my students. I plan lessons to cover all 4 skills: reading writing listening speaking. I make a lot of use of technology and interactive resources in my lessons.
I feel it is really important for students to have an understanding of the exam specification and therefore will often dedicate a lesson to studying this at the start. I believe that if the student truly understands the overarching scope of the course that they will be best equipped to attain the best mark.
I try to inspire a real love of language learning!
