Personal Description:
I studied Physics with Cosmology at London University's Royal Holloway College. Gained a BSc with Honours.
After education I entered industry. With technology and techniques always changing, I had to self teach and also taught those around me, as manufacturing became progressively more automated and technical.
After becoming a partner in a company and selling that company I became a self employed architectural Consultant and professional Photographer.
Now I wish to give some of this experience back.
Tutoring Experience:
I have now been tutoring for two years with a record of improving student performance and their confidence.
Before that, I worked in industry. One of my responsibilities was to guide and educate university students who chose my company to do their year's work placement .
I was also responsible for the development and introduction of new technology and equipment into my company. This meant being able to learn quickly and then teach efficiently.
I have also taught photography techniques to novices and hobbyists.
I have always found it rewarding to teach those who wish to learn.
Tutoring Approach:
I hope to reveal the wonder and usefulness of Maths and the Sciences so that learning becomes a life-long quest and not a chore of childhood. Then the student can seeks out new knowledge and with these tools work out how the world works for themselves.
I have always found learning is easiest when real world applications can be used to explain why and how something works the way it does.
Not only will I help a student learn and understand their course work but I can show why their new knowledge is useful for their future.
You hope learning will be fun and this approach should be.

Children can often be put off a subject that they love because the have been made to feel inadequate, personal coaching can go along way to bringing back the enjoyment. We have John to thank for that and would thoroughly recommend him.
Prompt and efficient- lots of great guidance, advice and strategies used and explained- would use again.
